IT SOUNDED BETTER IN MY HEAD is based on the inspiring true story of a young man’s struggle with mental health and his personal growth through music. It's a timely and important story reminding us that everyone is struggling, often in hidden ways, to find peace, self-acceptance and support.
Tim Devlin dreams of becoming a singer, but his crippling mental health suffocates his ability to settle his brain. Gabriella Rojas is a stressed out medical student from Puerto Rico. When they meet on the streets of Boston, Tim and Gabriella find a love that brings them effortlessly together, but as they struggle with their passions and their hearts, they must decide if the pursuit of their dreams will ever allow them to be together.
Tim addresses his paralyzing OCD and anxiety with the help of Dr. Eleanor Spence, a therapist who desperately needs therapy. Ella has demons of her own and drowns her pain with alcohol. Donnie McFadden, a homeless street performer who possesses extraordinary talent, shows Tim the darker sides of mental illness and helps him understand the healing power of music. They all confront their own mental health issues as each one navigates the pressures of life, school, careers, relationships and love.
